Our mission is to provide you high quality training and charters with an abundance of experiences of your choice. Blue Tortuga Adventures offers group and private spearfishing and freediving training and charters aiming at small groups.
Our training is conducted in our Coolum Beach classroom and local swimming pools then followed by offshore trips travelling as far as 30 nautical miles offshore (55km) anywhere up or down the QLD Sunshine Coast from Mudjimba Island, Gneering Shoals, Flinders Reef and Barwon Banks.
The founder, owner and director (Alex Moraitis) is an experienced freediving and spearfishing instructor and the 1st to bring a beginner spearfishing course here on the sunshine coast. He is also an experienced skipper, PADI MSDT Instructor and Emergency First Responder Instructor! You are therefore guaranteed to enjoy a very friendly, flexible, safe and fun felt vibe onboard a high-quality vessel with high quality and safe equipment.
Alex has over 30 years experience working through Australia wide, Galapagos, Mexico, Egypt, Greece, Spain and Asia and can assist anyone from absolute beginners to the advanced.

A beautiful experience on Cape Moreton’s coral reef environment. Flinders Reef is known for many turtle sightings, beautiful varieties of hard and soft coral , reef fish, and sponges. If you’re lucky you might just spot a manta ray, grey nurse shark or a leopard shark! No, our instructors will guide you through techniques to feel relaxed and safe in the ocean. Our courses run over 2x days, therefore day 1 will focus on theory and swimming pool sessions to build your confidence and technique.
If your trip is cancelled due to bad weather or due to a company matter, we will first try to reschedule you on a date that works best for both parties. If that isn’t a possibility then we will provide with a 100% refund. Please refer to our terms and conditions
All gear hire for courses is included in the price.
All day trips on our boat include snacks and refreshments. If you do have any dietary requirements, let us know as we do cater for them.
You are allowed to bring and consume your own alcohol on our boat. Be aware however, once you start drinking you cannot re-enter the water. We also do not provide alcohol. We are unfortunately a non smoking vessel. We do allow vaping however, so long as the other passengers are ok with it.
Yes we allow customers to chill on the boat for the day if not interested in doing in-water activities while friends and or family are doing in water activities, we charge our cheapest activity price of $150 for this as you would be taking up Vessel capacity seats 😊
Absolutely! We understand people’s time is precious and cant always commit to multiple days in a row, we can tailor your course to your availabilities.

It is highly recommended that you take sea sick medication at least 1 hour prior to departure
Unfortunately we cannot guarantee the movements of our marine animals or sea birds, therefore even though we do our best to provide these sightings, we cannot guarantee it and do not offer refunds of discounts as a result
